PostSubject: The Elemental Dragons    Wed Jan 01, 2014 9:15 pm

Story
In the land of Greenvale, a lone castle stands all by itself. Whoever holds the throne of this castle rules the kingdom and the surrounding lands. The land is rich, providing a plentiful harvest so long as its people are treated right.

However, a long time ago, dragons usurped the throne. The Dragon King treated everyone in the castle poorly, burning those who defied his will. People were overworked, overtaxed, and much of the land was scorched from the dragon's fire. It was an awful time; people were threatened to obey the dragon's tyrannical rule or die. The dragons ate most of the harvest, leaving many of the other races to the land to starve and die.

Even within the Dragon King's reign, there were those who were on their own agenda. A small number of dragons were not originally please by his values and didn't follow his rule. These dragons were willing to take a chance and alley with the humans and other races.

A rebellion rises, lead by none other than the Elementalists. These heroes spoke dragontongue, often being held as translators for the castle. The heroes eventually were able to use their elemental powers to make the dragons retreat. Then a barrier was casted over the land to keep the dragons out. The dragons now must live in the Outcast Lands, with little cultivation and water to survive. It is truly a terrible place to be sent. People that are exiled into the Outcast Lands are said to never make it past three days.

Time passes. Generations go by.

Now, the threat returns as the barrier is mysteriously fading away. The dragons get wind of this, and plot revenge on the current king, King West. The plan is to murder him and allow the Dragon King to once again have free rein.

The new Elementalists are being called once again. All of them are needed to stop this rising threat. Will they band together, or allow the land to perish....

PostSubject: Re: The Elemental Dragons    Wed Jan 01, 2014 10:43 pm

Name: Noctal Fenris

Gender: Male

Race: Shapeshifter (Wolf)

Age: 26

Personality: Extremely stoic and blunt, Noctal comes across as cold and uncaring. In reality, it's much the opposite. Noctal cares deeply for his friends and comrades, but he's seen the results of his passion when it runs unchecked, and he fears that, thus locking it away. He's very serious and easily exasperated with people who fool around too much. However, he keeps a tight rein on his temper, and never lashes out with anything more than sarcasm or a harsh word towards his comrades.

Weapon(s): Two tomahawks, many daggers (balanced for throwing), bow + arrows.

Element: Dark

Appearance:

Background: Noctal is from a tribe of shapeshifters that suffered terribly from the Dragon King's excesses; forced off their land to make room for the dragons and made to farm food for them or die. Noctal has been raised to hate dragons, and as such, does not work well with his dragon companion. However, he himself is fairly strong, and is a talented fighter, which makes up for their terrible teamwork. He is the eldest of five siblings, and tends to treat everyone younger than him like they're younger siblings. It also taught him a lot of responsibility, but he had to grow up quickly to take care of them, so he didn't have much of a childhood.

Noctal found Atris, wounded, by the river on the edge of his tribe's territory. At first angered that she was there, he changed his mind at letting her stay when he saw a deep wound in her side, inflicted by another dragon. His exact words were "I can't help you, but I won't hinder you either. You can stay as long as nobody else from my tribe finds you." After a while, he brought her a medical salve and some food since she couldn't move far. When she asked him why, he never gave her an answer. She's hung around by the river since then, and he visits occasionally. They're not friends, but at least friendly acquaintances.

Other: Noctal constantly drinks tea. Almost obsessively. He even carries it around in a flask and brews more from whatever he can get his hands on when he gets the chance.

Dragon name: Atris

Dragon Gender: Female

Dragon Appearance:

Dragon Personality: Atris is very calm, polite, and demure, but she greatly enjoys being amused by the antics of others. She forms a distinct foil to Noctal. They have some similarities, but they're also as different as night and day in some ways. She's very empathic and motherly, caring for others and constantly worrying about Noctal and his taciturn nature. She's very unlike a dragon in that she has no pride whatsoever, and will gladly let others ride on her back if they're too tired to walk.

Weapon(s): Staff. Sometimes uses a nun-chuck (See image for reference)
Element: Earth
Appearance:
Shapeshifter Appearance:
Spoiler:

Background: Lives in a humble little tribe full of other forest shapeshifters. His family is quite big like a herd and has a lot of relatives, but they are scattered throughout the land. His tribe is a main export for food because of their fertile land. They are mostly farmers because of this and they live quite happily.
Lucas has a little sister, Lilly, who is also a deer shapeshifter. She is playful, kind, and really gets along with Tastu (Dragon). His parents are always working on bringing food to their family so Lucas is the one who mostly raises Lilly. He worries for her safety at times.

Dragon name: Tatsu
Dragon Gender: male
Dragon Appearance:
Dragon Personality: Unlike his owner, Tatsu is very outgoing and friendly. He tries to encourage Lucas to make a few friends and stop being so shy. Cracks a joke here and there, too.

C-can I be fire..?

You can only claim the spot of fire if you make a character. Otherwise it's opened as far as the roleplay is concerned.
~Cat

Name: Captain Harold Rackham
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 47
Personality: In three words: scorned, hateful and ruthless. In more explanatory terms, Rackham is a man whose entire life has been filled with nothing but the backbreaking scorn of others constantly on his mind. Because of this, everything that defines him is fueled by hatred towards all those who have stood against him (or more specifically, those who haven't stood with him.) Having had no genuine feelings of love, remorse, sympathy or compassion, this makes him extremely deadly in every aspect, as he holds nothing back and feels nothing but contempt for those who do. He trusts just about no one, and is used to be treated in the reciprocal. Because of this, it is likely that the only way he'll be convinced to defend the kingdom is if the dragons were to attack him (or his own dragon) personally.
Weapon(s): Two rare cutlasses and four blunderbuss flintlocks.
Element: Fire
Appearance:

Background: The Rackham family has been a line of Elementalists since before recorded history, a family whose loyalty has always belonged to the Serpen clan. Before the dragon barrier was set up, however, the tribe suffered from a particularly brutal dragon attack. The Elementalist's victory did little to cool the wound, as frequent droughts and famines made people desperate. And when people are desperate, they take extreme measures. As the tribe had only been struck by bad luck since the dragon attack, the spotlight was put on the eight year old boy named Harold and the rest of his family. His parents and siblings were slaughtered in front of him, and he only barely escaped the onslaught of the tribe. Rackham took refuge in a small cove on the coast, left with nothing but his father's leather knapsack which contained a small dagger, a note reminding Harold to stay strong, and most notably: a dragon egg. The years passed, Rackham and the dragon, Groyle, formed a near-symbiotic relationship. Eventually, the two had grown powerful enough to step out on their own. They had officially decided that life wasn't going to be this cruel to them and get away with it. Life was going to rue the day that it brought them into the world. Having developed their magical abilities, the two took over one of the kingdom's frigates, taking over the entire ship through theatrics and scare tactics alone (turns out clouds of ash, a man claiming that he is revenge incarnate and a dragon can break a soldier's will pretty easily). Becoming captain of the ship, Rackham spent the next couple decades terrorizing the kingdom's ocean, obliterating the kingdom's navy if they were to come along and stepping on land only to raze coast towns. Rackham has now become a force of terror and spite, hated by everyone he has ever known and conquerer of all who step into his path. One thing is for sure: if you see his black flag flying in the distance, you had better run.
Other: Captains a frigate known as the "Blood Wing" which has almost forty cannons and twice as much crew. Notably, the centuries-old figurehead at the front of the ship looks nearly identical to his dragon, Groyle.

Dragon name: Groyle
Dragon Gender: Male
Dragon Appearance:
Dragon Personality: Groyle is very similar to his master in that both are ruthless, cunning, and generally feared throughout the kingdoms limit. Having known Rackham since birth, Groyle is unfalteringly loyal to Rackham, never being far away and always there in his time of need. Rackham reciprocates this, considering Groyle to be the only true friend that he has ever had. Having not been subject to the same horrors as Rackham, he may be a bit easier to convince concerning the kingdom's cause...

Better?

Name: Valandil Minyatur
Gender: Male
Race: Elf
Age: 327 (looks to be only 24)
Personality: He is laid back most of the time but when things get serious his combat skill can go unmatched.
Weapon(s): Two twin elvish blades forged hundreds of years ago. The blades are named Starlight and Shimmer.
Element: Light
Appearance: Long blonde hair with piercing blue eyes. His ears are pointed as is the norm for his race.
Background: Despite having lived for three hundred years Valandil is still considered young by his people. Living in the forests on the edge of the barrier his people were spared for the most part and rebelled against the dragon king. When Valandil was moving through the trees he came across a sleeping dragon who would come to be his companion. Having a deep respect for all living things Valandil did not kill Nevalth as his people had done to other dragons. Instead he waited for the dragon to awake. Shocked that he could understand the dragon Valandil quickly formed a bond with it.

(The blades he wields do not look like the one in the pic)

Dragon name: Nevalth
Dragon Gender: Male
Dragon Appearance: A dragon of silver shining scales that has lived with Valandil for almost two hundred years. An expert in combat from training with Valandil. When fighting together their magic is amplified ten fold. Separate they are both a force to be reckoned with.
Dragon Personality: Wise and caring to all things. If what he truly cares about is threatened he will do all in his power to defend it. Stay with Valandil at nearly all times. If he is gone then Valandil can summon him in an instant.

Amber D'fire finished cleaning off the window. Placing the towel back into the bucket, she started skipping down the long hallway. She hummed a tune, happy to be done with that first task of today's work.
Today, she would busier than usual. The castle is holding a gigantic ball to commemorate the defeat of the dragons years ago. Today is a holiday as far as the kingdom is concerned, with a feast inviting everyone in the land to come join the king and celebrate. Amber's duty was to attend to the needs of the guests visiting the ball. It has always been the way of maids of the castle to serve and make sure every guest is comfortable.
"Angela!" Amber greeted as she entered the maid's quarters, "What's left to do for today?"
Her friend smiled, always in a good mood around the holidays. "Today, we need to finish preparing the food. However, the cake is supposed to have strawberries, something we've somehow run short of! The vision of the head cook is ruined....he's devastated!"
"Well, I know all of the shop clerks in Mabletown, where I live. I'm sure I could find some strawberries there for a sweet deal. Perhaps I can gather some other tasty treats to be served all the ball tonight, too!"
"That would be wonderful, Amber! I'll inform the head maid right now! Thank you so much!" Angela's eyes lit up in excitement.
"Hey, what's the theme of this year's ball?" Amber asked, "I'm dying to know, everyone's been so busy working though!"
"Oh, the theme? The theme of this year is flowers. The castle's going to be filled with a sweet aroma from them! People are expected to pin flowers to their shirts this year. I just love flowers, they are so beautiful! Roses, lilies, irises, daisies....I love them all!" Angela explained excitedly, then bounded out of the room.
"Well, I better go get those strawberries!" Amber said enthusiastically.

Noctal Fenris walked towards the river with brow furrowed. The annual ball comes soon. Should I attend? My tribe is part of the kingdom, but we've always lived outside of it. The warrior couldn't get the words of his elder off his mind. 'We must stand with the kingdom in the coming days, or we will not survive much longer,' she said. I can't believe that, but... she's never been wrong before.

"You seem troubled, Noctal," a cool, feminine voice spoke as he neared the river. The warrior glanced up, noting the concerned face of the dragon Atris blinking down at him, her pale silver eyes glittering and her purple scales gleaming in the morning sunlight.

"I'm leaving for the castle tomorrow," he informed her. "You'll need to remain here, Atris. The gods only know what people would do if they saw you."

"Nothing good," she murmured, laying her head down on her front claws. "I almost wish I was outside the barrier with my kin. Even if they're a bunch of idiots."

Noctal hummed, turning away with a shrug. "I just thought I'd let you know. I'll be back in about a week." With that, he left to gather his supplies for a long trip into town, preparing to get gawked at constantly. Wearing animal skins and war paint tended to do that, to say nothing of his size. "This is going to be a long week..."

Lucas carried a large basket into the kitchen. He started to stuff some fruits, vegtables, and a few loaves of bread into it. This year, for the festival party, our tribe has to provide the appetizer. But, why do i have to bring it? Why me? Lucas's little sister, Lilly, skips into the kitchen.
"Big Bro! I want to go to the party, too! The theme is flowers, and I love flowers! Also, can we bring Tatsu? PLLEEEEEAAAASSSSEEE???"
"Whoah, slow down with the questions! One at a time. Of course you can come to the party, but Tatsu can't. This party is about defeating the dragons long ago. Since he is a dragon, he won't be welcomed, ok?" Lucas replied to his sister. He finished packing the food and put the basket on a wooden wagon. He grabbed the two sides of it and started to pull it down the dusty, dirt path.
"C'mon, Lilly, we have to get there early to give the appetizers to the maids!" Lucas called to inside the house.
"Ok, coming in a second!" Lilly replied back. She came out of the house with some lilies in her hand. "You have to pin this to your nice shirt, ok?"
"Fine." Lucas grabbed on of the lilies and pinned it to his shirt. "Off we go!"

Within the Kugara Shrine, a laid out altar sits along the back of the main chamber. In front of it, a young woman is kneeling, bowed down, and praying. She wore the long sleeved white robe and red skirt, the attire of a respected maiden. The mirror glistened on the table, with incense burning softly.

"If only I could communicate directly with the great spirits of our world." Amemizu said slightly frustrated. "While I do feel connected to them, I must strengthen my spirit further. I've always appreciated Graveseth helping me understand more of this world."

Finished praying she made a quick mental checklist of the materials set out in front of her. Each item required later for the opening ceremony at the party. The dress. The beads. The ribbon. The flowers.

"Time to visit Graveseth before starting my journey to the castle." Amemizu said getting up.

Stepping out of the shrine's outer wall, Amemizu traveled down the main steps of the hill than off a side path. She followed down the hill, a breeze billowing her hair. Arriving near the waterfall, she walked along the cliff's ramp, taking her inside the bay. Along the shore at the bottom, she sat on the sand, and a large cerulean dragon emerged.

"Ah, Miss Otohime, good morning." the dragon speaks, with what appears to be a smile on his face.
"Graveseth, morning to you too. I'm very glad this bay is so perfect for you." Amemizu said nodding her head.
"Indeed. The fishermen use the beach that wraps around outside this bay. It has provided me a good home for these past centuries. Now, what ails you child?"

"Well, in a few days marks the anniversary, so the castle is throwing a party. I will be leaving later today. Of course, being a dragon you can't come. However, I have been asked to perform the ceremonial dance this year. I would like to hear a quick tale of yours to keep my mind occupied along my journey so I stay as connected as I can to perform the best dance yet. Perhaps something about this region? Instead of any sour thoughts about the other dragons or humans."

Graveseth let out a hefty laugh.

"Amemizu, though you are wiser than many humans, connected to nature's forces, you haven't lived long enough to understand there are plenty of lessons to learn before you may fully mature and others need to learn theirs. You need not hold a grudge. I respect your people's response and animosity toward my kin and their actions. But the world works so everything happened for a reason and to connect with everything else.

The dragon silenced for a moment, lost in thoughts. An idea stroke.

This river winds through every main region in the kingdom, only to flow off the Kura Waterfall into the bay. The energy of the entire kingdom flows to this point. That is why your ancestors built the shrine up there in the first place. While you are gone, perhaps sensing the origins of some of the waters' energy may inspire you. It has been awhile since you composed a vocal song"

"And here I just thought my however great grand father feared the power of the sea so he built the temple on the top of a hill." Ammy laughed. "Perhaps you are right. I haven't done much with music in recent times. Pray something unique happens that inspires a grand song. Farewell Graveseth, thank you again; til next time."

The dragon winks at her before diving back into the bay. Amemizu started back up to the shrine to collect her things for the trip, humming a tune with a smile the whole way.

Not too far from Mabletown docked a large frigate, one that was recognized and feared throughout the entire kingdom and the surrounding kingdoms. This frigate, with it's scarlet-colored sails and eighty cannons, had just done what everyone feared: raised the black flag. On the deck of the ship paced Captain Harold Rackham, fittingly called "The Fist of the Gods," among other names. A couple feet away was his victim, Vince Leone, tied to the bottom of the mast. The previous night, Vince had snuck onto the ship, assuming that everyone was asleep only to be caught by Rackham, who was talking to his dragon. Since that time, Rackham has demanded that Vince's life be traded for a bit of food, as the crew was running a bit low.
"A man's life for a bit of food! Is he worth that little to you?!" Rackham frustratedly shouted at Mabletown, which wasn't too far away from both the coast and the castle.
Rackham continuned pacing, smoke rising up from his beard as his anger channeled his pyrokinesis.
"I'm forced to assume, Mr. Leone, that you are the outcast pariah of Mabletown, and I would be better off eating you, than bartering another moment!" he shouted, his eyes glowing a fierce scarlet at the end of this sentence.
At that moment a massive orange dragon glided down from the sky, landing on the side of the ship and rocking the entire boat sideways.
"I did some checking about…" spoke the dragon in a tongue that only he and Rackham could understand, leaving Leone speechless and terrified.
"And?"
"They have the supplies you requested prepared and ready. The problem is, the kingdom's holiday ball is today, so they're debating whether or not to risk the anger of the nobles or the anger of you.
Rackham growled angrily, both of his fists clenching and lighting in bright orange flame.
"They REALLY fear the nobles more than ME?! I am Captain Harold Rackham, THE FIST OF THE GODS!"
"Indeed, you are. As such, it is your duty to set balance, correct? To punish and bring justice?"
"Aye… what's yer point?"
"Then go to the ball, demand a meeting with the nobles and the royal family. Demand retribution for this Leone fool here."
"They won't take responsibility for him. This kid acted on his own."
"On the contrary, Harold. I did more snooping. Check his breast pocket."
Having no idea what was just said, Vince was terrified to see Rackham turn to him with an angry snarl. Grabbing the letter out of his breast pocket, Rackham examined the note with scrutiny.
"He was a spy for the kingdom! He came on our ship to search for illegal materials! How DARE they! They broke the truce!"
The note was burnt to mere ashes in Rackham's hand. He stomped on the deck thrice, letting the crew know they were permitted to return to deck.
"Boys!" he told them, even though there was some girls as well. "Get rid of him." he said, referring to Vince Leone. "We march upon Mabletown and the castle in five minutes. Be. Ready."
Rackham mounted upon Groyle, hatred burning in his heart.
"It's time for the kingdom to receive it's punishment."

Far from the city of Mabletown and far from the kingdoms castle was the forest of the Elves. Within the trees, jumping from  branch to branch was the Elf named Valandil Minyatur. He was on his way to see the Dragon that he had been a companion to for over two hundred years. His people would normally attempt to kill a dragon on sight but when Valandil had found the dragon in the woods resting from a wound on its leg, instead of killing it he instead helped it and discovered that he could use the Dragon Tongue. For Valandil he had only heard stories of it so when he could understand the Dragon it surprised him greatly. Convincing his people that the dragon would not harm them was a difficult task but Valandil succeeded and had lived with the dragon ever since. Reaching a branch that overlooked a clearing that had one massive and ancient tree in the center Valandil called out.

"Nevalth!"

The shouting echoed in the clearing as Valandil listened with his elf ears for movement. Not long after he heard the grating of scales as Nevalth emerged from within the ancient tree. One would not think the tree could still be alive after looking at it but sure enough it had been hollowed out to make a home and it still continued to grow. The tree was home to Valandil and Nevalth.

"Ah Valandil, Welcome home. Any news as of late?"

"Yes actually, my father wants me to go to the holiday ball tonight, but I'm unsure if I want to. It is about the defeat of the dragons after all."

"I see, perhaps it would be wise of you to go anyways. You must remember who your father is Valandil."

"Don't worry its not as though I could really forget. Convincing him to let you live was the most difficult task I've ever had to endure. He was part of the uprising that drove your kind out of the borders."

"Even so he is King of the Elves. It may help to strengthen ties with the other cultures in the kingdom. One can never have enough allies."

"You're right. Well shall we go speak with him?"

In response Nevalth lowered his body to allow Valandil to ride upon his back. A custom made saddle had been hand crafted by the most experienced leather workers of the elves. Once they had learned of Nevalth from Valandil and that the dragon bore them no hostility they eventually began to trust the dragon.

With a few short flaps of his wings Nevalth lifted himself into the sky, the sun shinning on his silver scales. He directed his course to the north where the capital city of the elves was located, it also bore the elvish palace that was Valandils' first home and home to king of the elves. In order to accommodate a dragon amongst their kind the elves had sung songs to make the trees spread apart more yet grow more foliage and grow large landing areas so that the dragon could land amongst the trees.

Once they had reached the city Nevalth began his descent onto one of the palaces landing areas, touching down with a grace that seemed almost elf-like for a dragon. When they landed Valandils father was waiting for them.

"Ah welcome home Valandil, and to you as well Nevalth."

When Nevalth spoke it was in a language none could comprehend. To most it would sound like low rumbles and crack. To the Elves though with their heightened sense of hearing they could hear the workings of the dragons lungs which to them sounded of the fall winds and shifting of leaves.

"Greetings my Lord Raenor"

"He bids you greeting father. What news of the ball tonight have you?"

"Yes have you decided to attend?"

"I have. Will you not be joining me there?"

"Unfortunately there is an important matter amongst our people that cannot be ignored. You will go in my stead and represent the elves."

"I understand father. Shall I present a gift to the Castle?"

"An excellent idea. Yes, take an elvish blade from our armory and then be on your way."

Valandil and Nevalth lowered their heads as king Raenor moved away and into the palace.

"Well this should be an exciting night then."

"Just do as best as you can. I of course will not be there but I'll fly you there and should you have need of me all you have to do is signal me."

"Alright, wait here while I go to the armory then. I'll be back shortly."

Racing down the steps from the castle, Amber excitedly skipped into Mabletown. It was the closest town to the castle, and Amber's hometown. She was greeted with the smell of sweet pastries and fresh bread. The town itself had been decorated in flowers in honor of the holiday, with the sweet aroma making Amber giddy. It was a good-sized town, not too large or small, and it had a great economy. Traders would occasionally come to sell their goods to the townspeople.
She went into the farmer's market area where the farmers would sell their harvested goods. She found a familiar family friend, Mr. Bob Bucklebell. He has been one of the dear friends of the D'fire family ever since Amber could remember. Her father and Mr. Bucklebell grew up together and were great friends.

"How are you this this fine day, Mr. Bucklebell?" Amber greeted.

"Amber! How nice it is to see you! My, you've grown since the last time I've seen you! I myself am having a great day, or year anyways. I've had such a great year for growing my crops." Mr Buckbell replied, gesturing to all of his goods.

"Do you happen to have any strawberries? I know yours are the freshest! The castle has run low and I promised my friend I'd get some. It's for the cake, the cook wants strawberries to complete his masterpiece. I hope there's enough cake for everyone, the cakes are so delicious!" Amber said dreamily.

"Of course I have strawberries! You can even have a discount, since they're for tonight's party! Take as many as you like, I am honored to have my fresh fruits on tonight's cake!" Mr Bucklebell smiled, and Amber picked up a basket. She filled it up with strawberries, up to the brim.

"Thanks a ton Mr. Buckbell! I'll see you at the party! By the way, do you think Connie is still having a meat sale?" Amber asked.

"Yes she is, her meats are always delicious! I bought some this morning. You should go get some before it's all gone!"

Amber gave a thanks to Mr. Bucklebell and headed off to Connie's shop. She walked in.

"I'd like some meat please! A chicken if possible" Amber asked politely.

"Oh yea Amber, here you go! That'll be ten pieces of gold!" Connie said, placing the meat in another basket. Amber paid for the meat and skipped into the forest with her goods.

Amber then called for Corina, her dragon, when she was sure the coast was clear.

Noctal entered his wigwam hut about a hundred yards from the central longhouse that made up his tribe's village. He immediately pulled up his canvas travel pack and started packing supplies for his journey. His weapons, his money pouch, and a spare set of his usual hunting skins went in immediately, followed by a small medical kit filled with cloth bandages, twine and needles, and several pouches of herbal curatives. A tin of traditional Lupinian war paint went in next, and his canteen, filled with water from his trip to the river earlier, was placed on top for easy access.

A quiet cough drew his attention to the entrance of the hut, where he saw the elder, an old woman named Olupaum stood with a cloth bundle in her hands. "Noctal, these robes are for you." Her voice quavered with her extensive age, but her eyes were strong and her hands steady as she held out the bundle of him to take. "They are as much a symbol of our people as the hunting skins you now wear. Take them, so you may present yourself at the kingdom's banquet as a representative of our people."

"Yes, Olupaum," Noctal murmured respectfully, taking the bundle in both hands. He unfolded it carefully, finding a set of grey robes with a red beaded sash of the same colors sewn into the fabric. This is... the ceremonial robe of the Elemental Hero of Darkness. The one he wore when he exiled the dragons with his comrades. "Thank you, elder." He foled them up reverently, then pulled out his canteen and placed the regalia into his pack. He put a small bag of dried meat and another of trail mix into his pack with the canteen, then closed it up and slung his quiver over it while attaching his bow to the quiver, before pulling it onto his back.

"Go, young Noctal," Olupaum murmured, a small smile on her face as she bade him goodbye, "and may the winds of fortune carry you always."

"And you as well, elder."

Noctal dropped to all fours, fur rushing up over his body and clothes as he shifted into his wolf state. He shifted slightly, balancing the pack on his back as the semi-elastic hemp straps adjusted to his new build, and then he set off into the morning sunlight, running full-tilt towards Mabletown.

Lucas and Lilly were walking among the trees of the Summerscent forest, where there tribe lived. Lilly skipped along happily while Lucas pulled the carriage.  A loud thud was ahead of them and all the nearby birds flee away. A green dragon with large horns approach them.
"Hello there Tatsu." Lucas said to the green dragon.
"Hi there Lucas! What brings this far from your tribe? I know you well enough that you're not out here on your own."
"It's Tatsu! Lucas, don't forget to translate what he says for me, kay?" Lilly sys out of the blue. Oddly, only Lucas can understand Tatsu even though Lilly really like him. She doesn't care about the past with troubles of the dragons, she thinks that Tatsu is nice and cool.
Ignoring Lilly, Lucas replies, "I'm going the the festival to represent our tribe. This festival is very important to the kingdom and it must not be missed."
"A party eh?" Tatsu says while smoothing out his scales. " I'm surprised your even going. So what is this party about?"
"Well, it is to celebrate defeating the dragons long ago. I'm sorry, Tatsu, but you can't come."
"Well, I probably would have gone, but since it's about that, I'll stay hidden in the forest. This party might help with your social skills, deer boy. I know they are poorer than poor, but you need to learn about bravery and courage, even though this is a small step. Well, I must be going now, and tell Lilly I said hi, ok?" Tatsu said smoothly. Shortly after he was done speaking, Tatsu flapped his great wings and flew off.
"Awww, you two totally ignored me!" Lilly said pouting.
"Tatsu said 'hi' and we must be going or we will be late for tonight!" Lucas said with urgency. Lucas shape shifted into a deer, with medium sized antlers on his deer head. The carriage attached easily to him, and he set off. Lilly also transformed, but she was still a faun because of her age. They both pelted down the path, with the sign of Mabletown behind them.

The afternoon sun shined brightly over a barely overcast sky. Amemizu, long after collecting her things from Kugara Shrine, traveled the whole trip following the main river path. She kept herself occupied by singing to herself. Eventually she approached the main central city.

Walking through the streets she noticed the different people. Most were longtime city dwellers but there were the sporadic travelers from the outer tribes.
Strange how the closer to the center of the kingdom the more progressed it is, and less in tune with nature. Ammy thought. Not only are the wardrobes unique, but the accents fluctuate as well. Still, the whole aura screams money.

"Bleh, cities, where no one understands the importance of the forces within our world." Amemizu grumbled to herself. "this is why I believe in the importance of learning from our history and the reptilians. I hope Graveseth found himself a nice chunk of sea bass."

Amemizu wove her way through the streets and up to the castle. She showed her ID to the two guards and went in the gate. Bag on her shoulder, she went to find someone who could tell her where to prepare for the dance.

As Valandil walked through his first home, the palace of the Elvish kingdom he made his way to the armory. His father had instructed him to attend the kingdoms ball as of tonight and present an Elvish sword to the kings as a gift from one race to another. When he entered into the building two guards moved behind him as they always did when he arrived at the palace. Despite being one of the Elvish kingdoms finest warriors his father worried for his protection and made sure there were at least two guards with him at all times except for when he left the palace and was with Nevalth.

"So will I be the only elf in attendance to this ball tonight?" asked Valandil to the guards.

"Yes, my lord. Your father has called most of our people away from the forest edges and closer to the palace. " said one of the guards.

"I see. Well then I had better put on a grand performance."

As Valandil approached the armory on of the servants in the palace opened the door for him to step through. He looked at her with a kind smile. For a servant she was rather pretty in Valandils eyes.

"Thank you, my dear." he said with a nod.

The servant blushed fiercely and hid her face. Valandil only smiled more.

Stepping into the armory and looking around he found the blade his father had ordered to be crafted for this event specifically. The blade was resting on a stone pedestal covered in a blue cloth.  Lifting the sword from the cloth Valandil examined the craftsmanship. The blade itself held the traditional curve appearance of most elvish blades. The hilt was made from the dead branch of an ancient oak. The blade was forged from some of the purest steel and silver mixed together to give the blade an immeasurable shine. Etched into the blade were Elvish runes. The runes simply said "Friend of the Elves". Lifting the blade and spinning it in his hand he figured the blade was actually heavy on the blade side and not perfectly balanced. The scabbard for the blade also rested upon the pedestal and was made of the same oak from the hilt. The scabbard was wrapped in silver leaves that appeared to grow like ivy down the wood. Sliding the blade into its scabbard made the old branch that was used more apparent. For the Elves it was a work of art. Valandil belted the blade onto his right hip while his two other blades rested on his left. He then turned to leave and make his way back to Nevalth.

Once he returned to Nevalth he climbed into his saddle and the two took off into the skies.

"Did you get the blade?" asked Nevalth

"I did. It really is impressive. A fine gift or the king if I do say so." said Valandil.

"That is quite a compliment coming from you." responded Nevalth.

Valandil chuckled and relax into the saddle as Nevalth rose above the clouds and began gliding through the bright sunny sky.

"Where will we be parting ways?" asked Nevalth.

"Don't worry about that, old friend. For now just fly us to the castle. Once we get there I'll handle the rest." said Valandil.

For a dragon Nevalth put on the best smirk that he could revealing some of his razor sharp fangs. He could only imagine what his friend and master would do to arrive at the ball.

Corina flew down overhead. She was one of the most beautiful creatures Amber has ever seen. Her scales shone rainbow when reflected by the light. Her wings were graceful and did not make a sound. The dragon's blue scales were gleaming brightly like jewels. Corina was Amber's very special dragon, and Amber had a surprise for her.

"This better be good," Corina said, looking down at Amber, "Y'know the party is tonight; you shouldn't be slacking off dear. This isn't a good time to be calling me."

"I know! But I got you your favorite: meat! a chicken, to be exact. I got it from Connie's. It's a present for you!" Amber smiled, placing the chicken in front of the dragon.

"Well, I guess I could use a decent meal every now and then. It's getting harder to find food now-a-days in the Outcast Lands. Thank you. You best be going on your way now," Corina sighed.

The girl then raced back to the castle, eager for the party to start. She ran up to the head maid.

"Hey, I've got the strawberries!" She grinned, holding them up, "Can you give them to the cook?"

"Thank you, Amber. But next time report to me when you are leaving yourself," the head maid scolded, "You were gone too long! That's it; you're working the whole week straight, no breaks!"

"Aww.." Amber sighed, knowing she did nothing wrong.[i] This woman is really cruel sometimes.

"Now go get ready to attend to the guests! There's a basket of flowers for you over there. Give a Rose to each guest that walks in. That'll be your job. Then, you can attend to working the food for the rest of the night, replenishing items people eat by running back and forth in the kitchen. Also, clean up any messes that happen. Don't fail or I'll double your punishment next week."

"Yes Ma'am!" Amber saluted, picking up the basket of flowers.

It was finally time for the ball to begin. The castle is beautiful decorated for tonight's event. People have started arriving in their fancy gowns and suits. Amber happily handed flowers to people as they entered, directing them where things were. She was excited for the ceremonial opening to happen soon; it was always extravagant every year.

The King was dressed up for the event to. He was a regular human, but no one should underestimate him. King West has been bringing peace and prosperity to the land, doubling the economy since he became king. He currently had plans to use the money to fix up buildings in the city. He was a good king; everybody loves him. He was sitting in a big chair, waiting for the ceremony to start like the rest of the people.

What would happen is first the Ceremonial Opening would happen once everybody has arrived and finished greeting each other. Then, various tribes and races would present gifts before the king. After all the ceremonial things, the ball would begin and everyone would celebrate the defeat of the dragons. It was going to be one awesome, beautiful event tonight, and Amber couldn't wait.

Guess who forgot to post!
...this kid.

***

Noctal honestly hated his ancestor's robes. They itched constantly, and the material was always making noise when he moved, which was a definite contrast to his hunting skins. The red and black fabric did suit him, and the simple war paint designs coming down from each eye gave him a rather regal look when combined with the formal regalia, but it still irritated him.

The grand opulence of every pompous noble and fruity cleric with bejewled robes and fine silks that looked like they belonged on a carpet rather than a person just confirmed that irritation. Seriously, how could some of these women move when they were wearing five layers of ridiculously heavy fabrics for their dresses? He was honestly looking forward to the dance portion of the evening, and seeing dozens of noble idiots trip and fall in their heavy clothes.

He shifted the paper-wrapped parcel he carried under one arm, an ornately worked silver staff for the king, imprinted with the images of each culture, and the various shapeshifter tribes. It was a worthy gift for the king, that Olupaum had commissioned in the days before the ball. The Lupinia tribe was not known for its artistic prowess, but it would be a very functional gift and a break from the obvious weapon or shield many would have expected from a warrior culture.

"You there!" a castle guard called, raising his giant poleax and poiting it at Noctal as he made to go towards the inner sanctum for the presentation of the gifts from the various tribes. "Halt! State your name and business."

"Noctal Fenris, Representative of the Lupinia Tribe," he replied coolly, his expression stony. "I bear a gift for the king, and wish to be prepared to present it."

After a few seconds and a glance at the parcel under his arm, he lowered his weapon. "Very well. Please wait by the gates for the other representatives. Once everyone is present and the Ceremonial Opening is finished, the gifts will be presented."

"Thank you," he replied with a slight smile, gliding over to the gate to await the arrival of the other representatives.  I really want this party to start. Patience has never been my thing.

(Great, I gotta do a bit of backtracking. This starts a little bit before the ceremony with Raven  XD)

Lucas and Lilly finally made it to the gate. The guards let them in because they know the tribe in the forest is known for their sympathy, not hostility. Lucas walked through the busy streets, as a human.
"Lilly, stay close, so you don't get lost. I don't want to go deer hunting through this whole town" Lucas told to the excited Lilly.
"I won't get lost! I promise!" Lilly said excitedly. She had never been to the main capitol city before. Lucas, on the other hand, has been there with his parents, before Lilly was born. He was never fond of the crowded and tight spaces.
Lucas spotted a maid running a bit late. "Hey! We are from Terrina, the tribe of the forest in the east. We were told to bring the appetizers!"
"Oh, we were expecting you! I'll take that cart off your hands and let the guards know that you are welcomed! Please make haste to the castle, the opening  ceremony is going to start in a little bit!" She said taking the cart. She ran off, toward the castle gate.
"Well, Lilly, we better go to the castle." Lucas said. He didn't wait for a reply from Lilly and started to walk down the cobblestone road toward the inner quarters of the city. He walked up to the gate and looked up at the guard.
"Oh, you must be the representatives from Terrina, you may come in!" The guard said. He went inside a little shack, and the gate started to rise up. Lucas and Lilly were then herded over to where the other representatives were.
Lucas froze. One person from the fierce tribe of Lupinia was there. Lupinia and Terrina do not have good history with each other. He made sure to put Lilly on the side away from the Lupinia tribe person.

The dress. The beads. The ribbon. The flowers. All pieces were ready. Make up applied. The ceremony may begin.

The lights in the dining hall dimmed, and a spotlight was turned on. Toward the make shift stage in the ballroom section, Amemizu stood in the opening stance. The flute and ocarina started with the duet introduction. Ammy started moving. She remained slow and graceful, so the audience may see the elaborate dress, shrine styled but embroidered with the kingdom's crests of old. Around her neck were the traditional rosary beads of Verdelth, strung by beads for each tribe and people of the kingdom and a gift from the ancient elder dragons. A harp joins in and Amemizu dances the Dawning Sun. She spins gently and glides softly with two ribbons in her hand. The young kingdom knows its prosperity. A drum starts in barely audible.

The drum gets louder and a trumpet enters the orchestra. The tone changes to more cold notes. Ammy bends low to the ground, the sneaking and plotting. The volume increases with two large drums' entrances; she raises her hands to the burst of sound. Amemizu whips the ribbons around into the air and along the ground as the tempo picks up. Usurpation. The Demon King is now in charge, and the kingdom will suffer.
As the music got more sinister, moving into a minor key, Amemizu transitioned into Scorched Wastelands where her movements grew more rigid, as if in pain, and the kingdom slowly grew into ruin. Her hair spins around her. The rhythm remained heavy and the chords clashing. She changed into more violent steps. Grabbing a cloth from nearby Ammy twists into the Dragons Duel, as the rebellion erupts. She leaps across stage, pulling the silk scarf behind her. A twirl is the dragons flying overhead, a sweeping kick is the soldiers on land. Amemizu travels along the whole stage, the drums beating and the battle commencing.

The drums lower volume. The key returns to major. Though slowing, Amemizu remains tall and proud. She spins around with the scarf flowing around her. The flute and ocarina return to greater prominence as Ammy glides into Resurrection. The kingdom is victorious. Her moves become relaxed and energy renewed as the kingdom slowly regrows into its final glory. She leaps into the air, and the music changes. The final Blossoms Ammy spins into. The flowers regrow, the field of them that replaced the battle grounds. Her patterns return to full grace and elegance. The music softens. Amemizu returns to center stage, twirls, then halts at a slight bow while the flute's tone holds. The kingdom's breath lasts in the air.

Valandil and Nevalth soared through the air towards the palace. Trying his best to give a good impression of his people Valandil urged Nevalth to fly faster. Being the only elf in attendance meant whatever actions he took could impact his people greatly.

"Hurry Nevalth. I can't be late for this you know." said Valandil

"Very well, hold on tight. I'll have you there in just a few short minutes." said Nevalth.

Valandil then ducked his head down close to Nevalth as he began quickly flapping his wings through the wind. As he gained speed Valandil was still thinking about how to get down to earth without Nevalth being seen.

"Just how do you plan to get to the castle?" asked Nevalth.

"I'm glad you asked. I was just thinking about it. I'm going to fall from the sky and use some magic to stop my fall." said Valandil

"A bit dangerous, but you've done worse I'm sure. Alright then get ready we are almost there." said Nevalth.

Valandil knew what Nevalth was suggesting for him to do. They had practiced this maneuver many times before. Valandil would walk along Nevalth's back until he was on the end of his tail He would then wrap his tail inwards and launch Valandil away at high speed.

"We are directly above the castle. Are you ready?" asked Nevalth.

"Of course I am. Lets go." said Valandil.

Nevalth then arched his body to go straight in the air. Valandil planted his foot on a spike that extended from Nevalths tail at almost a ninety degree angle so that he did not fall off. Nevalth then coiled his tail inwards as Valandil allowed himself to slip over the spike and flip upside down. Before he could begin falling Nevalth uncoiled his tail pushing Valandil away from the spike.

"Be safe, my friend." said Nevalth despite Valandil being long gone below him. He then turned and decided to rest in a pasture that was a good distance from the castle yet within range that he could arrive quickly.

As Valandil fell he gracefully flipped and rotated through the air his hair flowing behind him. As he neared closer to the ground he shot a burst of light magic into the air before him to illuminate this descent. He then used another bolt of it to form a pillar of a semi solid substance that radiated light. He then flipped and landed on the substance as it began to slow his descent and once his foot touched the ground the light disappeared. He had landed in the courtyard of the castle. Looking around he noticed some guards.

"You there state your business." said one of the guards.

"I am prince Valandil of the Elvish kingdom. I am here as a representative of my people. Which way to the main hall?" asked Valandil.

"Apologies my Lord, right this way." said the guard as he directed Valandil to the hall.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few hours later all the guests had arrived and the opening ceremony was about to begin. This year it would be a dance performed by a shrine maiden.
"Well well. This should be a nice way to start the night." said Valandil to himself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After the opening ceremony had taken place. The presenting of the gifts to the king would take place. Valandil had made sure to wear the blade on his hip to allow the guests to see the craftsmanship that went into it.

As a steward began calling the names of representatives from the surrounding villages and tribes Valandil was called first.

Stepping in front of the king who sat upon his throne Valandil unsheathed the blade.

"My lord, I Valandil Minyatur of the Elvish Kingdom present to you this blade crafted by our best blacksmith. It is made of a steel and silver alloy to give it strength yet remain in pristine condition, The scabbard and grip of the blade were fashioned from an ancient oak branch and when sheathed resembles the branch as it once was. It is also overlaid with silver leaves that are particular to that type of tree. May this blade be a symbol of our peoples peace and friendship. said Valandil.

After the king accepted the gift Valandil stepped to the right side and stood awaiting the others to present their gifts as well.

Amber's eyes lit up as the performance started. It was absolutely gorgeous. The girl who did that performance was pretty! And she was so graceful and elegant! I wonder how much time it took her to practice..

An elf walked up to the King to the gift to the king. Wow! I've never seen an elf before! How cool!

Amber became enraptured by the performance. Suddenly, a tap on her shoulder woke her from her daze.

"psst, Amber! Help me set up the food!" One of her fellow maids said, "we can't forget that! Stop watching and start serving!"

"I'm sorry I'm sorry! I'll go help you out now!"
Amber apologized, "Don't sweat it!"

Noctal couldn't help but admire the grace and skill of the maiden who had performed the ceremonial opening of the ball. Every act, from Dawning Sun to Blossoms, was performed flawlessly. None of the dances could be considered easy by even the most accomplished performers, making it doubly impressive.

Noctal waited through a few showings of gifts, grateful that his tribe's gift was different from the usual swords, spears, and shields, no matter how finely crafted.

On the other hand, he was slightly bothered by the reactions of the Terrina tribesmen who had arrived after him. He knew his tribe had a poor relationship with their people, but was it really so bad that they looked at him like he was going to eat them? Seriously, not worth the effort. Wolves were opportunistic hunters, and Terrina tribesmen were not pushovers. There was a reason the survived and thrived despite being prey in a realm dominated by predators. And besides that, they were kids! Noctal liked to think that he was more honorable than some lowlife who would prey on children.

His gift was handed over to the king without incident, and he recieved a smile and nod from the monarch for the unexpected and finely crafted gift. As he stepped back in line however, a most unwelcome sound passed his ears. The sound of a dragon's beating wings... heading straight for the palace.

I wanted to try doing an entire response without dialogue, and I think it went pretty well, despite being irritated by idiots arguing with me on YouTube.
